Repairs vs. Wearable Art

As a sustainable clothing designer, my mission is to transform pre-loved garments into wearable, one-of-a-kind art pieces. Every patch, stitch, and dye technique I use is part of a creative process that turns each piece into something entirely unique and personal. My work goes beyond basic clothing maintenance—it's about designing functional, sustainable art that tells a story and lasts for decades to come.
That said, I often hear from friends or customers looking for quick fixes like replacing a zipper, sewing on a button, or patching a small tear. While I deeply value the importance of repairing clothing to extend its life (and I encourage everyone to learn these skills!), these kinds of repairs fall more into the category of seamstress work, not the artistic process I focus on. Many dry cleaners or local alteration shops offer these services at a low cost, making them a great option for minor repairs.
If you’re passionate about keeping your favorite clothes wearable, you’ve already taken the first step toward sustainability—and that’s amazing! If you’re looking for something more, like a custom piece that reflects your personality and values, that’s where my craft comes in. Whether it’s a jacket reimagined with intricate patches and meaningful quotes or a garment completely transformed into something new, I’m here to create something special. Let’s celebrate both the small repairs that keep our clothes alive and the art that turns them into something extraordinary!
