Technology is a tool but also a trap

Its so easy to get distracted when you live a life parallel to technology. Within my lifetime I have gone from dial-up internet to having a smart computer in my pocket all the time. I can not help but think that we are all standing on the presuppose of a critical juncture, one where some travel on a path towards stepping back into a lifestyle void of convivence to find satisfaction, while the rest venture further into the matrix.

It is impossible to go about a day as a smart phone user without a moment where a thought is interrupted by a notification. That interruption pulls us out of the present moment and takes away our agency, our attention. Delays the outcome we were focused on before our device dictated disruption.

Hours, days, even years wasted giving our attention away on platforms that have monetized our attention to the highest bidder, in exchange for cheap dopamine and a forged sense of connection.

It is starting to feel like the function of these devices come at too high a cost. I would rather be entirely alone then grabbing for my phone like a crack addict does a pipe.
